A team with so much promise, so much potential but a team that always promises but somehow fails to deliver. Sometimes due to injury, sometimes due to sheer bad luck & most times due to bad choices, on and off the field. This has been the history of Tottenham Hotspur for a very long time. However this new season of 2021-22, they have begun with new hopes, new ambitions, and a new manager too.
Nuno Espírito Santo - The Portuguese Manager who previously managed Wolverhampton FC. He has been around for a while and knows the Premier League in and out. Tottenham has begun life under Nuno quite well, having won all three games that they have played in and are sitting pretty at the top of the table.
And the main news that every Tottenham fan and player was concerned about is now final. Harry Kane is staying. He is staying at his boyhood club and will help them win.
Tottenham’s Attacking Options
When you have last season’s Golden Boot winner and highest Assist maker in your starting XI, you know you have good attacking quality and depth. Harry Kane is in line to become the highest scorer in the Premier League as he is primed to break Alan Shearer’s all-time goals record as he has age, time, and certainly all the talent to do so. He is their main striker.
On the left flank, they have Hueng Min Son who is another very immensely gifted and talented player and can have a go at defenses and beat them quite easily no matter who the opposition is. On the right flank, they have Lucas Moura who is another exceptional player. No doubt he is moody and has his good and bad days, but Lucas Moura in the mood is altogether a different beast. And the good thing for Tottenham is that he really has looked in the mood this season. If you still don’t believe us, watch what Lucas Moura did in the Champions League semi-final against Ajax.
Tottenham’s Midfield Woes now fixed?
With D Alli regaining form after a tough couple of years under Mourinho, but now with Nuno now in charge of the team and Dele Alli getting regular game time, he has started showing traces of the Dele Alli who just rocked the footballing world when he first came on to the scene. Then they also have their very own homegrown O Skipp who has developed into a full-time starter and someone who very maturely takes charge of his midfield and defensive duties.
They also have a matured midfielder in Hojberg who is a very critical binding joint of the team. He is someone they rely deeply on on. They also have Lo Celso and Harry Winks who are young and have some amount of experience in the bag. Overall Tottenham has a good young batch of mid-fielders and if they can find some form, they will really be a big threat this season.
Good Defensive Setup after ages
Last year they brought on Sergio Regulion from Real Madrid. He is a very talented left-back who Tottenham first bought on a loan with an option to buy. Now that they have brought him permanently, they have a left-back as good as anyone in the league. In the right-back position too Tottenham has worked wonders, they have managed to sign the very talented Emerson Royal who is definitely a future star who has the talent, age & hunger to make a name for himself.
He was in Barcelona’s future plans but somehow owing to the current challenging situation at Barcelona, he decided to leave the club and join Spurs. They have good options for the center-back position as well. Japhet Tanganga has impressed every little soul that has watched him play. He is a homegrown player and he has that fire in him. He is definitely a future club legend in the making as far as Tottenham Hotspur is concerned.
They have Dier, Sanchez, Ben Davies & Christian Romero as other options. The way we see it, a combination of E Royal, Tanganga, Sanchez/Romero, Regullion from left to right should be a very good defensive combination. They would make even the strongest of teams feel terrified to come up against Tottenham.
Goalkeeper: Hugo Lloris
Hugo Lloris is one of the best keepers in the world and he can easily be drafted into most playing XIs. He is a world cup winner too and he has been there for Tottenham for a long while now. This is one aspect of their game where they have had the most stability as Lloris has been there for them for a while now and he is as world-class comes.
All in all, Tottenham certainly has the team to maybe finally win some silverware this season. They certainly wouldn't be in contention to win the premier league even if they are at the top of the table now, but they can certainly aim for the top 4 champions league spots and maybe even go on to win some domestic cups.
