Even when they finished 4th and somehow managed to grab the champions league spot in the final few weeks of the premier league last season. however they were not to be blamed were they? They had lost their entire fleet of defensive players with almost all of the defensive options at their disposal getting exhausted.

However, there is no doubt that Liverpool are still one of the best teams in Europe whom any team in the world will have trouble against. They have a great manager in Jurgen Klopp who has taken this liverpool to some great heights in the recent years. They won the Premier League in 2019-20. A year before that they won the Champions League too. They are still the team to beat in the English Premier League and now that all of their players are back from injuries and are in shape, this team is capable of doing and winning everything.

Liverpool have never been the team who have won games or trophies just by spending money unlike other teams. They play a team game and build a team game based on the joint effort of their core players. This time too, they have not been in the top 5 money spenders in the premier league. They however did learn from the mistakes of last season and have bolstered their defensive attack with the addition of the world class defender Konate.

Liverpool have one of the best frontline attacks if not the best in the footballing world. On the left flank they have Sadio Mane who is a treat to watch on any given day. He is fast, he can dribble and he can score and he is a great passer of the ball who also presses quite actively. On the right flank they have the Egyptian Mohammad Salah who in our opinion is the best right winger in the world right now. He is smart, he is fast and boy he can shoot and score from anywhere. He is just that X-factor player your team needs when nothing is going your way and you want someone to create some magic. He scores goals day in and day out and most often than not is in the contention for the Premier League Golden Boot.
And yes he makes a lot of assists too. In the Centre Forward position, Liverpool have the Brazilian Bobby Firmino who is also a key player of their team. He has that hunger and eye for goals and together with Salah and Mane, these three just wreak havoc in the opposition’s box. They also have a very good backup in Diogo Jota - the Portuguese International who is another gem of a player and can easily score every time he plays.

Another reason why LIverpool have done so well over the last few years is because of the wealth of experience and class their mid-fielders have. They have James Milner who has been playing football at the highest stage for how long that he even he cannot remember. Then they have the World Class Thiago Alcantara who has been there and done that. He has won domestic titles in many countries and he had joined Liverpool seeking a new challenge after having won trebles including the champions league with both Bayern and Barcelona.

Quite a C.V this guy has. Then of course they have their captain - Jordan Henderson who is like the backbone of this team. Be it while attacking, he is always there to help. Be it while defending - he is always there to serve. And on the mid-field, he is like everywhere. And then they also have the brazilian master CDM in Fabinho. We all know how good he is and how long he has been playing the game. All in all, Liverpool have some outstanding mid-fielders who also bring a ton of experience to the game bolstering both their attacking and defending prospects.

When you talk about Liverpool’s defense the first name that comes to your mind will always be Virgil Van Dyk. Undoubtedly one of the best central backs
in the game since a long time. This man is like a wall and nothing can get past him. No matter how big the name or how big the player, nothing gets past Van Dyk. The dutch defender is undoubtedly one of the best defenders over the last decade. He can contribute with some goals specially from corners with some scintillating headers and also can make a lot of key passes and launch good counter attacks with his accurate and creative passing. They now have three options for the other centre back position. They have Matip & Gomez and now their new signing in Konate.
Any one of these three defenders are as good as the other and can very easily be played in any position. At the right back position they have England’s very own Trent Alexander Arnold. He is young but has a wealth of experience, class & talent. He can defend well, he can run fast, he can attack with the ball too and he is very good with set pieces too. On the left back position Liverpool have Robertson. He is another amazingly gifted and incredibly talented lad who can play as well as anyone in the world in this position.
He is also good with set pieces. Together Robertson and Trent give Liverpool that extra flair and edge while attacking other teams
Goalkeeper: Alison
Alison is undoubtedly one of the best keepers in the world. Most pundits even rate him as the best keeper of the modern times. He is like a leopard on a leap when shots are flying from everywhere. Very hard to beat, very agile and very active on the field. Did you check out his headed goal in the last minute of the game that really helped Liverpool qualify for the 4th spot. If not, you should definitely check it out. He can also make some match winning passes to launch counter attacks that often result in goals
Overall, if Liverpool manage to stay injury free the whole season avoiding injuries to major key play players, they can have a season as good as anyone. Be it the English Premier League or the champions league, you wouldn't want to be facing Liverpool in a tough knockout game.
